One of the world’s most strategic masters in the art of warfare and conquer of lands-Hannibal, had his greatest battle with one of the world’s most feared and revved empires- the Roman Empire. And he won the battle but lost the war, for he knew his strengths in the art of warfare, he knew he was a confrontation conqueror, more so he knew the pride of the Romanians and knew if he could lure them out into the open, into a vantage point. He would take them on and win, thereby accomplishing what his father wanted to do, destroy the Romans. His strategy worked for quite some time, and even with one evil eye, he kept having the better of the Romans. Until they stopped playing into his hands, they stopped giving him what he wanted, a confrontation war zone; they learnt to master the art of letting it blow over no matter how much he taunted them and want them to want to come after him. By the time Hannibal saw he couldn’t make them attack anymore, he slowly faded away, and Roman Empire rose to be one of the empires that made history and conquered many countries, including the people of Gaul known as present-day France. They took Hannibal’s strength.

But what happens when you don’t know your enemy, when you don’t get time to study your enemy when your enemy isn’t even physical? What happens?. The world was hit with an enemy that proves to be more than the bubonic plague, an enemy that has claimed more lives than any in its class, an enemy that shut down businesses, operations, shows and leaving the world as a ghost town. We had to return to our homes; we had to run and hide; we had to develop new means to do business, classes, shows, and many more, an enemy that made us change our way of life and everything we do COVID 19.

We lost families, friends, the regular guy on the street. Countries recorded deaths and are still recording deaths. And even though we were handicapped to the situation, we still rose to the occasion, we fought the best way we knew how we remembered who we are and what we are here for, and that is to be there for one another, regardless of race, colour, country, gender, ideas and a whole lot more. We put all that aside to become stronger, to become better, to become something more that transcends our norms. We offered emotional touch through video calls, ads, online messages, and everything the internet could offer us even without physical contact.

However, regardless of our fight, we are still not done yet. We are still in the war even though the world is opening up. We must know we can’t have it the way we once had, things won’t be the way we planned, things have changed, and so should we. We must return to that place to fight this enemy; we must return to where we once drew strength. We must put aside all that divides us as the three-strand is on the way or here; it is here. We must become HUMAN AGAIN.
